How OptiOptu Was Born
OptiOptu was founded in 2023 by Morteza Balaie, a UK registered Pharmacist since 2013 with an Independent Prescribing Qualification from King's College London.
The purpose of OptiOptu is to assess high-quality research papers and use professional critique to ensure high-quality evidence supports any treatment we offer.
"I’m a qualified pharmacist in the UK with a strong clinical background, and I was heavily involved in research during the COVID-19 pandemic, a period when evidence-based decision-making mattered more than ever.
During this time, I worked on and led 3 separate clinical and service-based research projects focused on assessing the safety and efficacy of therapeutic options used in the treatment of COVID-19. These projects contributed to peer-reviewed publications and helped inform how treatments were evaluated and used in real clinical settings.
That experience shaped how I think about medicine. I learned first-hand the importance of asking the right questions, understanding limitations in the data, and balancing potential benefit against risk, especially when evidence is evolving and patients are relying on you to make the right call.
Today, I apply the same research-led mindset to hair, scalp and skin health. Hair loss is an area of personal importance to me, and rather than following trends or marketing claims, I use my expertise to critically assess what is safe, what is effective, and what is genuinely appropriate for each individual.
At OptiOptu, every recommendation is grounded in evidence, clinical reasoning, and honest expectations. This approach ensures that decisions are thoughtful, personalised, and focused on long-term outcomes, not short-term promises."
